We parked at the lot for the Wapack Trail on Mountain Road, road-walked, went up Ted's Trail to the Cliff Trail to the North Pack summit, then down the Wapack Trail to the summit of Pack, before heading to the summit loop trail and back down the Wapack Trail. We then took the Cliff Trail from Wapack back up the the intersection with Ted's Trail, and then re-traced our steps back up to the North Pack summit, before heading down the Wapack Trail to the car.
We can't remember these trails being this dry and clear of snow and ice at this time of year — ever. Some blue ice here and there, mainly on north-facing slopes, in shadow, but all avoidable. Any mud was frozen solid. We brought light traction, but never needed to use it. Only the Wapack Trail from North Pack to the Mountain Road parking area has any tricky blue ice on the granite ledges; probably easier going up this rather than down.
Lovely day. We saw but three people, only near summits areas.
