| Water Crossing Notes: |
Tall people will be fine on the river, less tall people may want to consider taking the herd path to the snowmobile bridge (heading up from Garfield Tail, the path starts from the right about 20 feet before the crossing). I broke the last little bit of ice on Spruce Brook but it's crossable with potential for wet feet. |

| Comments: |
All in all, conditions weren't too bad and had a bit of sun on the way out. Bottom 3/4 of mile of Garfield Ridge is snow free with just a little ice. Spring, wet, sticky (whatever you'd like to call it) snow starts after, and to varying degrees of sloshing around. A decent amount of stable monorail, but depending on how much rain was had, may not be so stable tomorrow. Slick, sticky, and slightly sketchy getting to the summit, and stepping to the side of the trail is a good way to sink 3 feet. The col down to the campsite spur is wet and sticky and I sunk past my knees about half a dozen times. Snowshoes, which went for a ride, would not have prevented that. Spur was fine. Very little mud, today, but may be more tomorrow. The roadwalk was about half ice/slush and half bare. Although there were two cars in the lot when I got there, I had the trails to myself. |
