Comments
Comments: Uphill access on the ski trails is still allowed outside of operating hours, per the Wildcat website, so we got an early start around 6:30am in order to summit before the lifts opened. There’s a map on the Wildcat website that shows the designated uphill access route. The majority of the route was groomed this morning, with only a couple of stretches of ungroomed trail. Some parts had thin covering with grass showing. The snow was already sticky at 6:30am, and it only became more so as the sun came up. It was around 36 degrees when we started and 57 degrees when we finished a couple hours later.

Wildcat Ridge Trail to the platform/true summit was in fine shape, but the snow was loose, so snowshoes are highly recommended. Absolutely gorgeous views of the Presidentials today with glorious sunshine and warm temps!

Our plan was to head over to Wildcat A, but the snow on WRT within the first 15 minutes of leaving the summit of D was very sticky and balling on our snowshoes, so we decided to bail and turn back since it was only 8:30am and we figured it would only get worse throughout the day. What stretch of WRT we did take from the summit of D was in OK condition, but it looks like most of the travel on it lately had been bare boots.

We descended via the ski trails and didn’t run into any issues - just stayed to the edge of the ski trails as best we could.

To the gentleman we met in the parking lot this morning.. GOOD LUCK on your finish this weekend if your Winter 48!
