No problems at Water Crossings. Some ice bridges and some rock hoppable. |

One tricky blowdown a half mile from Carter Dome Summit. Had to crawl under. One blowdown on North Carter trail. Herd path around it. |

The snow was hard packed early in the morning and there was ice on Nineteen Mile Brook. Sharp Hillsounds worked well. As it got warmer, conditions got slushy, mainly when the trail was in the sun. Spikes were necessary, there were many ice flows that softened during the day. No need for snowshoes, but we needed to stay in the center of the monorail, otherwise, we post-holed. Overall, nice late winter conditions on the Carters. |
