We got a lovely clear day. A good number of people on the trail but not too many. There was fresh snow on the trail but several hikers were ahead of us so it was packed down sufficiently. I started out with microspikes but switched over to crampons once we reached the steeper and icy sections of the climb. I kept my crampons on for the rest of the hike. I was glad to have them, especially above treeline as we encountered a lot of ice. We saw other hikers managing just fine in microspikes. Cold and windy up top but a beautiful clear day with views for miles! |
