Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails are all in really good shape. Mt. Tom spur has a number of broken trees leaning over the trail.

Comments
Comments: First thing, the water crossings - especially that first one were frozen and easily crossed. The loose snow on Avalon Trail is largely packed down into a solid monorail. The section up to Mt. Avalon is frequently steep and occasionally reveals black ice underneath. Nothing too challenging if you're wearing spikes or snowshoes with solid teeth. Speaking of snowshoes, if you've got televators this part of Avalon trail will make you glad you made the investment. After Mt. Avalon the monorail, still easy to follow, becomes less stable. Steadily upwards to Mt. Field which features some lovely views of the Presidentials to the north and the Pemis to the south. Willey Range trail descends Field somewhat steeply before leveling out into more unpacked monorail. The summit of Willey is hidden behind trees and under snow, but I know I was at least within a couple of yards of it. The same thing can be said for the summit of Mt. Tom. Descending AZ and Avalon was a breeze. The Olympic buttslider team smoothed out the trail on the way down rather nicely.
