Peaks Mt. Parker, NH
Trails
Trails: Mt. Langdon Trail, Mt. Parker Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Saturday, March 5, 2022
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: There is a small area at the roadside near the trailhead. The summer lot is not plowed. There was also a plowed lot to the right after crossing the Saco River bridge. I used this vacant lot as there was no signs prohibiting parking and it did not lead to any residence or business.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow - Unpacked Powder
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Brook crossings after entering the wilderness area are on rocks. The first crossing was upstream from the official trail crossing although the detour may not be required for some hikers.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails in good condition. Blazes are fading or scarce for much of the trail even outside the wilderness area. Any downed trees were either at the snow level or high above the snowpack.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw two nice Black Labs that seemed to enjoy the trail.

Comments
Comments: The Mt Langdon and Mt Parker trails leading up to Mt Parker had been broken out previous to today. It did not appear that the Mt Parker Trail had been broken out beyond the summit of Mt Parker. I broke out the Mt Langdon Trail from the junction with the Mt Parker Trail to the Langdon shelter. There is currently a split in this snowshoe track with the right fork going directly to the shelter and the left fork heading to the toilet and then to the shelter.
A hiker from Tamworth and I wore snowshoes. All other hikers were using traction that did not seriously damage the surface although extra sets of snowshoes would have compacted the surface better. However, the forecasted weather may adversely affect the surface conditions.
Nice views of Mt Washington and many other peaks from the summit.
