Comments
Comments: the amount of ice and melting from last week's melt underneath a new coat of 6 to 8in of powder was tremendous. There are points at about 2,200 to 2500 ft on Welch that are dicey in several areas. They are passable with spikes and potentially snowshoes but it takes some equipment adjustments and had us wishing we could snap our fingers and have crampons on for about 10 seconds about five different times. There was a woman behind us who broke her wrist falling on the ice. The descent of Dickey was quite easy and pleasurable. this trail needs a heavy dumping of snow. It's still very bony after all the melting this past week. All in all still a great trail . but still very taxing at times
