Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Crossings are high and opening up. Standing and running water under wet snow made for a mess. The one around 2100 feet was nearly impassible. I managed to work my way along a narrow leaning tree, which was not easy. I ones near the shelter were fine on the way up, but had opened up by the time I was on my way out, making them harder, but doable. A hard freeze would change this scene completely.

Comments
Comments: The trial was well traveled to the shelter, though I was still punching a bit in a 28 inch snowshoe. Beyound the shelter, less traveled and more punching. All tracks stopped around 2200 feet, leaving me to break rotten snow. I was sinking anywhere from 6 inches to 18 or more inches. I chose to take a short bushwhack before the junction, to cut the corner from RR trail to Kendus. This paid off, saving some distance and vertical and actually presenting better snow. Kundus was more of the same, except above the trees, where it was often melted to bare rock.
