We started at Discovery parking lot and went west on Kanc about a quarter mile, then about 30 yards further from brown National Forest sign we went in towards river. At river we went west for about another 30 yards then at the down birch tree that crossed river, we crossed. It was bridged but you could use birch tree to cross. We took a 240 degree bearing and followed until we got to the ridge line then it was easy to follow to the top or false summit. Tracks go right and left, follow left, if they are still visible, then you will go down fast then back up slowly, this is a westerly direction. At the real summit we went a few different ways, if tracks still there, follow right then stay left. Hopefully I remembered correctly. Hard to tell where the summit was, no real 'peak', pretty level around summit. We found orange canister. About a foot of snow at bottom then increases to about 3 feet or more up top, all unpacked. Plenty of spruce trees to cut you up most of the way, very thick. Did our best to stay out of. Also some small spruce traps. Great adventure, only ones there for awhile, no other tracks. A big thanks to Geoff as we teamed up and used our map and compass skills to summit! |
