Comments
Comments: If you plan to hike up or down the Polecat slope, plan to be on top by 8:30-9am and head down after 4-4:30pm. We were stopped by the ski patrol on our ascent. Advised us that there was no uphill travel during skiing hours. He let us continue. We didnt summit until 10am. We had planned to do an out and back (to Wildcat A), but since we didnt want to aggravate anyone on an early afternoon descent, we chose to exit via 19 Mile Brook. However, it involved a 3 mile road walk back to the Wildcat parking lot. Total mileage for the loop 12 miles. Took us 7 hrs with stops.

Wildcat Ridge has a good trough, a decent base with several inches of fresh powder. Surface is not consolidated. Snowshoes are still needed to improve the trail. Descending down Wildcat Ridge to 19 Mile Brook was quite soft with several inches of fresh powder. Lots of snowshoe slippage on the steep descent. We wore MSR Lightening Descents. We opted to do a few butt slides.

The last mile of so out to the 19 Mile Brook Trailhead was solidly packed. Could bareboot or microspike this section. We keep our snowshoes on until we walked the road. The Carter Dome Trail was broken out and looked to have a good base.
