Beautiful day out on the trails. My group was the first ones up today and all three of us wore micro spikes. They got a dusting of snow over night, probably 1-2 inches but with the well tracked and packed snow underneath there was no problems using just micro spikes, in fact I would recommend over snowshoes. The bypass of the chimney is (now) well packed out. After East Osceola once you see a scary looking ice fall, the bypass is nearby on the right. On our way down we saw four other hikers, so now the track is even better packed out. Definitely the perfect time to do the Osceolas, with no ice and only fresh consolidated snow, it makes the steep up and downhills much easier. Enjoy! |
