Comments
Comments: A cold but beautiful day for this hike. Low temps, blue skies, great visibility and no wind in the trees. We opted for a 9:30 start, still -1 degree and snowshoed end to end. There were awesome views in all directions from the viewing points and along the ridge. There was no wind in the trees but a stiff 10 mph on the exposed areas which was very manageable with proper layering. The trial is chawed up in some places from spikers and bare booters with post holes, divots and some ankle breakers especially at elevation. There is a clearly visible trough to the summit but beware of off shoot trails, some of which are well troddened. Despite warnings from yesterday's report, we managed to travel one during our descent. You may want to look back as you ascend to get a sense of the trail for your return trek.
