Comments
Comments: Solo lollipop loop over Square Ledge and Passaconaway from the Kanc. Late start, down after dark, so no one the entire day. Ankle-twister frozen postholes most of the route. Only part of the trail that was not postholed was the lower Oliverian (hammered out by skiers) and the part of Square Ledge Trail from just E of the SL summit west to Passaconaway Cutoff. Lots of coarse ice on the upper part of Walden below the summit and a few tricky spots. Patches of bare rocks and washouts here and there throughout. I put on/took off snowshoes/spikes several times & used snowshoes to keep my ankles right going down after dark.
