Comments
Comments: Greeley Ponds Trail is in great shape. Hard packed and wore spikes out and back from the Mt. Osceola Trail junction. Wore Kahtoola micro-spikes on the way up the steep sections of East Peak and switched to Hillsound Pro Crampons at the chimney bypass. Kept the Pros on all the way back to the Greeley Pond Trail intersection. Tree branches and well placed cut stubs helped immensely in both directions. The packed trail is a mix of crunchy ice with good grip and some areas where the grip was not so friendly. Really appreciated the kindness of another hiker, Lucas, who waited for me after descending the chimney at East Peak, just to be sure I made it. Had a great walk out with him. Saw three groups of two, plus Lucas for 8 total people all day. Most seemed fine in either Hillsound/Kahtoola spikes. I went for more bite.
