Well we went out hoping to get these two peaks from the less desirable side as it is the easiest way up in the winter. We barebooted for quite a while and a little onto the mt osceola trail. I had a short sleeve shirt on til almost east osceola as it was warm with no wind out. We had our spikes and not sure if snowshoes would have done much help. Crampons would have been overkill I think but probably would have still done fine. We saw only a few heading to east and saw a crew on osceola were we were able to get a little undercast which was nice. It was also nuts how warm it was up there. We headed back to east and could see the top of washington high and out of the clouds. Once back to east it was slower going on some of the steep parts. There were plenty of trees to be near on the sketchy parts. Once we came back down to the junction of greeley ponds, we took our spikes off and I went back to the short sleeve shirt. All in all good day to be out on the steep side of these mountains. |
