Comments
Comments: Decided to take Dicey's Mill up to Passaconaway summit, then out/back on Rollins Tr to Whiteface summit. (I wanted to avoid the ledges on Blueberry Ledge Tr, so I didn't do a loop.) Wore microspikes up to P'way and the View Spur, then donned crampons for the out/back on Rollins to the Whiteface summit. New snow from last weekend is in the 3-6" range and the trail is still boney, so not really good snowshoe conditions yet. Last week's ice is still very much there under the snow, necessitating some careful footwork on the ascent up Passaconaway summit cone as well as the stretch of Rollins ascending to Whiteface. Only saw one other hiker who had made the loop CW and said the ledges were very sketchy, recommended use of a rope if descending (no thanks.) Happy first day of winter (11:59am EST!)
