Climbed Passaconway via Dicey's Mill because we were worried about ice on the Blueberry Ledges. Then did and out and back on the Rollins Trail and back down Dicey's. This made for a long but relatively safe day. You can climb Passaconaway with micros (my partners did) but it's much easier with Trail Crampon Pros (which I used). We all came down in Trail Crampon Pros. There's a lot of very thick ice but plastic ice above the Rollins/Dicey Trail Junction. The beginning of the Rollins trail started mellow, but then we got into serious thick ice all the way to the summit cairn and back. Trail Crampon Pros also very helpful on the Dicey Mills descent, switching back to micros below the log crossing. |
