Windy & cold, but that's Monadnock. I had the summit all to myself for the time I was there. Very unusual! Snowshoes went along for the ride but never left the pack. Hillsounds stayed on the entire hike. Flow ice at points along the trail up high. Route-finding through the summit area was interesting. Just a few inches of wind-blown snow covered the summer route, but didn't retain the footprints of previous winter travelers. I sort of bee-lined, but turned around from time to time on the way up to pick out landmarks for the return trip. An awesome day on the mountain. My 8th visit to the top, and the Dublin Trail is my new favorite. |
