Comments
Comments: ski trails on loon were in great shape. wet in the morning, but generally dry by afternoon. having never been up loon before i did some wandering to get up to north peak, but realized a more direct route on the way down.

the out of bounds trail to black mt. was marked with a yellow warning sign just below the loon north chairlift. not clear at first, but it soon becomes a good foot path generally easy to follow. where the trail makes a hard north turn i began the bushwack to scar ridge.

was generally able to find decent woods all the way to the "west west" peak. wasn't able to follow as nice a line on the way down, but generally it wasn't too bad.

also went over to "west" peak and found the toughest woods of the day between the peaks. staying to the north side of the ridge between the peaks made things a bit better on the return. the high points on both summits were quite clear. though many feet have travelled the woods up there the only really solid herd paths i saw were around the summit areas.

nice day for this hike. temps were great and the woods had dried out pretty well by the time i hit the bushwack. i kept waiting for the awful woods i had heard about over the years, but they never really materialized (though i did get into some short nasty stretches between the peaks).

the views from the slopes on loon were really nice. great to be out.
