Comments
Comments: Great day, great views. Went up the steeper Lambert trail to take advantage of the views, and easier more gradual descent down Ranger. Slabs on Lambert trail were dry; mud started in the col before the final ascent. Several sections of the final ascent were both wet and covered with ice, but there were also by-passes around some of the worst sections, not enough ice for spikes, yet. Thought there was more manageable mud on the Ranger trail; at least it was easier to get around, and the leaves provided a barrier for your boots. Top section had been a flowing stream, and the leaves were bunched up making it hard to distinguish individual rocks. Bottom was easy going; several by-passes of the most muddy sections. Stream at the bottom was good for washing off muddy paws.

Word of note: The hatch at the top of the fire tower is heavy when lifting (saw reports that it was not open). Top floor has windows that block the wind (although there was none to day). Views from the top were spectacular today.
