Comments
Comments: Leaves were pretty well covering Lincoln Woods Trail in the morning but by afternoon they were being ground down pretty well. Leaves are also down on the lower half or so of Osseo Trail potentially covering rocks, roots, etc. Minor spots of mud here are there as well - ice crystals in the mud started at about 3000'. The stairs are fine but I imagine they will soon begin to get a bit slippery due to black ice.

It seems this has become one of my fall hikes when I can't decide where I want to go. During today's trek I really had an appreciation for the routing and building of Osseo Trail: it is never steep and has good footing throughout, making it a pleasure to walk. Summit views were crisp as was the wind. I had an early lunch at the SE outlook along the steps, basking in the sun. Still some dull oranges and yellows hanging on at lower elevations. Chatted with some folks completing a Pemi Loop, coming up from Flume Slide and coming up Osseo as I was descending. Real nice day to be out.
