Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: No issues.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Overall, both trails are in decent shape. Shelburne is not blazed. On Kenduskeag I spotted one really old faded blaze and that was it. Several blowdowns on both trails. Additional spans of bog bridging are needed along the summit ridge as folks are stepping around the mud. The eroded pitch above the ladder on Kenduskeag is steep slippery mud, making it a bit tricky to descend.

Comments
Comments: A beautiful day to revisit this peak. This is definitely the quieter and generally easier approach, at least until the ridge.

These trails were mainly dry (aside from the initial logging road walk which was a brushy car wash in the morning from overnight fog; dry in the afternoon). There were some wet and muddy areas, but nothing crazy. Foliage is past peak here and the leaves are falling fast, so they are covering rocks, roots, water, and mud. Still some nice muted foliage color as of today though.

I hadn't done this route in a while and had mostly forgotten what a rough roller coaster ride Kenduskeag is. Oof.

Excellent views from all of the assorted ledges and only encountered a few people on the summit. On my hike in and out I saw no one. Pretty warm temps for October; a bit too warm for me at this time of year.
