Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All easy except for Charles Brook at eastern end of Bicknell Ridge Trail. Just a little challenging but wouldn’t want to attempt it in water any higher than today!
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Tough to follow trail when first coming out on ledges on Baldface Circle Trail going up South Baldface. Also no sign for Bicknell Ridge trail at western end.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Didn’t see any. Would think ledges on South Baldface would be tough for a dog but I’m not a dog owner!

Comments
Comments: Put your poles away after the Baldface Shelter going up South Baldface. I needed all 4 limbs and wished I had more. Have never used my hands that much in 57/67 4000 footers or previous 47 of 52WAV! Views are amazing from the time you hit the ledges until most of the way down Bicknell Ridge Trail. Foliage certainly wasn’t peak but colors are present. As said above, trail was difficult to follow when I first hit the ledges on South Baldface. If I remember correctly, stay mostly to the left. Gets a little easier to follow higher up. Once to the top of South Baldface (don’t get fooled by the false summit with a very large cairn!) the hardest work of the day is done. Not that the rest of the hike was easy, but nothing like those ledges!
