Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: At the lot for Marlboro Trail. Shaker Farm Rd. is always an adventure. It was very wet and muddy in places today. High clearance is easier, but regular cars are fine with common sense driving.

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Nothing significant.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The first steep haul up the end of the ridge on Marlboro is very eroded with collapsed rock steps which have tumbled down the trail. There are also eroded sections higher up. Lots of worn bypasses from people working around the scrambles. SPNHF crew was out on lower Marlboro working on rock steps and stepping stones at the small brook crossing as part of Monadnock Trails Week. Thank you!

Comments
Comments: Hadn't been on Marlboro in a while -- forgot how rugged (yet fun) it is! Basically, things were wet in the woods and mostly dry on open ledges. Lots of mud on lower Marlboro. Some areas of wet ledge as water is still running off the mountain after the recent monsoons. Small drainages which are usually dry are flowing. The scrambles were fine with no real slippery areas but we were mindful of foot placement anyway.

A somewhat busy summit for a Monday but not crazy. The wind was whipping a bit up top, keeping temps pleasantly cool. I kinda missed experiencing a windy summit -- I was into it.

For the return trip we looped down Smith Summit to Great Pasture to Marian and back to Marlboro. Super quiet on these trails, we only saw four people. A great day out!
