| Water Crossing Notes: |
Everything was easy including the Wild River. I didn't attempt to rock hop Wild River just waded through all four times. It was shin to knee high at worst. Everything else could be easily rock hopped |

| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Shelburne Trail was the nicest of all these-great footbed and minimal blowdowns. Some blowdowns on Kenduskeag and also a lot of tight trail there that could use brushing, including the AT section. MBT was legit wilderness-tons of blowdowns/bogs/luxuriant undergrowth-a lot of fun in there. A few obscure turns on this trail but not too bad to follow. I've read about Highwater for years-was interesting to finally experience the worst section of it. Not too terrible just a few spots where you have to poke around to find the trail. you can tell how much work has been done just to get it to where it is today post-storm |

| Dog-Related Notes: |
Fin had a good time on these trail I think. A ton of water and limited scrambling. The only tough move was getting up the first scramble on CMT at the Kenduskeag intersection as you head to summit Moriah. She was tired and needed a fanny-boost from below to get up. I was a bit nervous on one short Highwater section where you traverse a sandy washout way above the river on a fairly severe sideslope. A slip here from a tired pup (or human) would have severe consequences. |

Great afternoon redline with the pup. Saw about 10 other hikers, most of whom were on the CMT between Imp and stony brook. Was surprised at how nice Shelburne Trail is-very little mud, blowdowns, undergrowth, etc. The first short section after the Wild River crossing is a bit tricky but there are some yellow arrows and blazes to get you to the more established trail beyond the tributaries/washouts.
Kenduskeag Trail lives up to its name ("peasant walk"), although it was super muddy from the summit plateau area down to rattle river trail. We had both summits to ourselves today, with great hazy views of incoming weather. took established herdpath from last tent platform at Imp back to CMT on way back, which saves about half mile and a few hundred vert. It started raining off/on right when we started down Moriah Brook, which was an awesome wilderness experience. Real rough and muddy, and once you start hitting all the pools and cascades it is really gorges:) Bottom half made for great running, as did lots of Highwater when you weren't looking for the trail or traversing washouts. 17.25 mile extremely scenic loop done in just under 6 hours. |
