Comments
Comments: Zealand is very easy until the hut and then the climb starts and continues to Zeacliff, which was beautiful and a preview for the views to come. We felt the rest of the traverse was more gentle ups and downs. Mud and water on many stretches of the trails, but it wasn't a problem. When you get to Guyot, the world opens up and the views were jaw dropping. Definitely drop your pack before doing West Bond Spur. It goes down quite a ways before climbing back up to the summit which is small and it's a relief not to carry the weight on your back for a short stretch. Back on Bondcliff Trail, it wasn't difficult to Bond and Bondcliff. It looked far, but it was very doable. We had lunchbreak on Mt Bond and were just amazed that you see nothing below that was created by humans, other than the trails to nearby peaks. The views were spectacular all day and the shadings on the mountains made it almost possible to count them all individually. The hikers today were wonderful and when several of them learned we were doing our last 4 4000's they became our cheering squad from peak to peak. Word spread and it seriously encouraged our 60 plus year old bodies and minds to push on! Sincerest thank you to them for taking our pictures on the peaks! The hike down Bondcliff was steep at the top, then fairly gradual until it became tedious! Lincoln Woods is never fun, especially not after all those miles. We clocked 21.2 at the end. Expect sore feet and if you're prone to knee or hip issues, this hike will get you. Took us slow pokes 13 hours with stops to appreciate our surroundings. Tip: make sure you bring plenty of water
