| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Room for 4-5 cars on Success Pond Road. I was 3rd car at noon. Success Pond road is in good shape from Berlin but even with high clearance you will be driving slow and careful on this road to avoid potholes/dips/rocks. |

| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |

| Recommended Equipment: |

|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
No water on this route except for a few boggy puddles and an almost dried up stream. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
trails in great shape and easy to follow |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
There is one csteep himney scramble on Mahoosuc Trail just before you get to the summit cone ascent. Fin was able to get down and then back up on her own but almost needed assistance on the up. Many dogs will need a boost or carry on this scramble. Guy near the parking lot warned me about it and said my dog and/or child would need to be carried-he grossly underestimated my hiking wolf. |

Success! Great redline of this 52WAV peak. The outlook loop is a real gem although my three-year old didn't like the 40 mph gusts that hit us next to the dropoffs so there was some hand-holding going on. As mentioned above the only tough thing about this hike is one steep chimney scramble on the Mahoousuc Trail. Didn't search for a bypass just scooped up the kiddo and scrambled down-she was able to climb back up on her own. Summit views also great but somewhat lackluster after the outlook views. Saw three hikers going to plane wreck site and three NOBO AT hikers. |
