The Back Country Ski Trail can be found at the top of the Loon ski lift on North Peak. The entrance (overgrown) is marked by two standard, yellow "Out of Bounds skiing" warning signs. From where I started to BW, the worst section by far was the first 1/4 mile or so (blowdowns, thick spruce, large boulders) then things lightened up and the woods became only thick. Herd paths near the False Peak, then another leading most of the way to the true peak. Note: The canister labeled "Scar" that sits about 8 feet high, is on a sub-peak. There is a second canister about 1/4 mile further on labeled "Scar Ridge" that sits at the true peak. If you get to a 12 foot "scramble" with a tiny opening on top and start cussing because you think you should be there, go back down and continue about another 200 feet. Last sign in at the"Scar Ridge" canister was 4/25/11 leading me to believe that people are either confused, or smart enough to wait for weather where long sleeves are appropriate.
