Date of Hike: Saturday, May 15, 2021
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Plenty at Davis Path lot. Three cars already in the Mt. Langdon lot when I arrived there @ 0730 so I just parked on the side of the road.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: No issues.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Many fallen tress of various sizes and ages throughout: if I had to guess the number in the Parker-Resolution col is about equal to the number in the rest of the route. There is one on the slope of Parker that requires being on all fours to crawl under unless you want to try to whack around some very thick woods. Junctions are signed. Not much in the way of blazing here but the paths are well worn and there are some cairns to help with faded/worn blazes on Resolution and Crawford.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw two which spent the night with their humans at the Mt. Langdon shelter.
Bugs
Bugs: Surprisingly almost none - I guess the slightly cool weather kept them at bay. I did find a tick on me when I was through however.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Nothing.

Comments
Comments: Trails are mostly dry with a few spots of the other conditions noted. There are a handful of small snow patches hanging on in the area of Resolution and Stairs but you are through them after a step or two so I did not bother to check the box - at this point they are more of a novelty.

I spotted a junker bike at the Davis Path trailhead and started the hike from Mt. Langdon trailhead. Views atop Parker were a sweet preview of more to come. From Parker to Resolution there are a number of fallen trees - even though the S part of this section is not in Wilderness just make believe that it is and enjoy the ride. The old spur/herd path S of Resolution can still be followed and provides a great outlook on a rocky knob. Herd path to the Resolution summit is easily followed. Stairs outlook is in good shape though there is an uprooted tree that is leaning away. While there I did the short whack to the actual summit. After descending Davis Path I climbed up to Mt. Crawford for the final peak of the day - in terms of views the best were saved for last. I had forgotten how steep and loose Davis Path was S Crawford. Once at the lot I hopped on my bike for a nearly all downhill ride/glide back to Mt. Langdon trailhead.

Other than a pair of overnighters coming out of the Mt. Langdon shelter I didn't see anyone until descending Resolution when I started to hit some traffic in the areas of Stairs and Crawford. Quite a few people coming up Davis Path as I was heading out. Temps were comfy and views were plentiful making for an excellent trek.

Uncle H's tip of the day: if you bring a pair of boots to change into at the trailhead make sure they are not two different right ones :(
