Comments
Comments: We barebooted to Carter Notch, then Hillsounds for the climb to A and all the way across the ridge. Bare ground (very wet today) for much of 19 Mi Br Tr until about 1/2 mile before the notch, then patchy snow/ice. Consistent snow/ice monorail for most of the ridge. Mostly firm today, though quite narrow in places. Monorail starting to deteriorate - need to concentrate to stay in the center or else easy to punch through. Still 1-3 ft of snow on the ridge. Polecat ski trail - large patches of snow remain in the upper half of the ski area, more bare ground in lower part. Started with spikes but very quickly packed them away. High winds all day, especially in Carter Notch, a few places along the ridge, and the upper portion of ski trails. Super quiet trails -only saw 1 other hiker all day. Dramatic clouds hovering and racing over the Presis all day. Pretty day, lucky to be out.
