Many many small crossings today, but none were an issue. Lots of water flowing everywhere. |

| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
All of these trails are generally in good shape. VDLT had six minor blowdowns. There are two blowdowns right at Lookout Ledge. CRT had a couple small blowdowns just south of the Mt. Randolph summit. The lower section of Sargent Path is succumbing to severe erosion; it was a literal stream today. RMC does an impeccable job with blazing and signage. |

| Comments: |
This was a long 10-ish mi. loop to check on some trails and hit a few other objectives.
All of these trails were wet and muddy in spots but south facing trails were starting to dry out in the afternoon.
From the height of land on CRT near Randolph's north peak, I did the short bushwhack to the summit. This was a fun one as the high point is not where the USGS topo says it is. After exploring the various bumps up there, I found the register tucked away on a rocky nubble with the familiar names inside. Lots of herd paths to utilize although the distance is very short.
The remainder of the hike was fairly straightforward although I recommend going UP Sargent Path! Holy steep.
I ended up visiting Lookout Ledge twice on this route -- no views in the morning but skies cleared out nicely in the afternoon for excellent views of the northern Presis.
Very quiet out here today aside from startling a bear at the VDLT / CRT junction. Of all people, I also ran into Larry Davis of Mt. Monadnock fame on Mt. Randolph. |
