Comments
Comments: Our group of three ascended via the White Dot Trail and descended via White Arrow, Hello Rock, Cliff Walk and Parker Trails. White Dot Trail was largely snow and ice free and in good condition, although steep with a few minor scrambles. Descending White Arrow was a total scramble until we got below treeline. Kind of reminded me of the Katahdin trails. We ran into some major ice immediately below treeline, with one major ice bulge that would have required some serious traction and possibly an ice axe. Having only light traction, we elected to follow a well-established and snow/ice free herd path parallel to the trail. The Hello Rock Trail was narrow, but very soft on the feet in most places. The Cliff Walk Trail was rough with a couple minor scrambles and a funky wooden ladder to descend. Parker Trail was gentle and fast. All the trails were nicely maintained. It was a total bluebird day with views that included the Boston Skyline, the White Mountains and five Vermont ski areas.
