| Lost and Found: |
My hat! Near the summit of Monadnock, Aeolus saw it fit to forcibly take a donation from me by sending my hat flying off my head. Not sure where it wound up, but I'm assuming the God's are pleased as I made it down safely. |

Very Spring-like on the trail today. The majority of Pumpelly is rid of snow and ice, though small patches do persist nearer the summit, causing some thought before foot placement. There was a strong wind today, with a light mist, where the wind grew steadily in intensity toward the peak. Due to the mist many of the rocks were slick, so again, thoughtful foot placement. At the summit the winds were strong enough that I could lean into them at some points and nearly be held up!
When I'd ascended earlier in the morning, there was a small pond within a mile of the trailhead that was full of chirping frogs. By the time I came back down to it, there was a cacophony of croaking and chirping, and hundreds of little frog heads poking up out of the water! The noise was unreal! |
