Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Since it was 11 am on a Sunday I drove to the gate on North-South Road, turned around parked on the edge. Room for my car, haha. Active logging during the week this probably wouldn't go over well. Others parked on the edge of High Street. N-S road is plowed and sanded and Blueberry Mt. Trail parking area plowed but the road is gated and closed to all traffic except those logging trucks.

Comments
Comments: Snow Flurries all the time and they varied between heavy and light! I had hoped to xc ski up North-South Road but it plowed so I hiked it about 2 1/4 miles and headed straight up Jeffers through the most wonderful open hardwood glade. The snowconditions were perfect for moving fast on snowshoes and down low were snow was 6 inches deep and a good 2 feet up high. I arrived at the recognized summit in no time so I decided to go to Blueberry Mountain. I headed south staying just west of the ridge in more wonderful hardwood forests. Passed by some moose old moose tracks, all that i saw that day. Just before Blueberry's summit the woods get tight and scrappy and I enjoyed a whole minute of sunshine and a quick view of Moosilauke before a heavy squall slammed in. Old snowshoe tracks and postholes all over the place. I found the cairn and the iron pin. I bopped around trying to find the trial and it was silly how difficult a task it was to find it in the blowing snow. The snow let up and it was a fast trip down the trail and back to my car. Well I really ran down beside the trail in my snowshoes because the trail was so horribly postholed. Perfect day for snowshoeing.
