Comments
Comments: Tough but great hike of ZBonds. I was able to bareboot to the 1st pond on Zealand Road then was met with a substantial amount of drifting from recent heavy winds. This trail is normally easy to follow... not the case today this continued off and on until the ascent to the hut. Heavy drifting started again just before Zeacliff. For the most part stayed on trail new snow amounts ranged from 2-6 inches to much deeper drifts. There are a couple of blowdowns on Zealand Spur as well. After breaking tree line at Guyot winds seemed heavy and sustained with wind driven snow. I was able to find the Krumolz tunnel and headed out of treeline again. I got slightly off course after large cairn, retraced steps and headed towards Guyot Tentsite.West Bond Spur was fairly easy to follow did get slightly off course again due to heavy drifting and low visibility. My tracks soon rejoined the trail and on to the summit. It was nice chatting briefly with a fellow hiker at West Bond intersection. The trail up to Mt Bond and Bondcliff was obvious even with heavy drifts. Micros could've been used after descending Mt Bond but opted to keep snowshoes on as wind gusts were heavy and sustained at times. Hillarys step was more like Hillarys wide slide today. I was able to bareboot once again after the bridge on Lincoln Woods Trail. I met 9 others on LWT.This Grids March out for me and represents 43/48 SSNHW48 attempt
