Comments: Second on trail this morning. Sage and I followed the first person's bootprints, and then the snowshoe prints as the drifts got deeper, up Liberty Springs Trail. We only did Liberty today - Sage gridded it out, so congrats to her - but at least two people on snowshoes did go over to Flume (the person we followed, and one nice lady named Bo - nice to meet you! - whom we passed early in the day but was never far behind us...she caught up with us on Liberty's summit).

Saw three people on snowshoes (and the two of us made five on snowshoes total) and four or five with microspikes. The snowshoers are coming down after the folks on spikes (as of noon, anyway), so the trail should be nicely packed out for tomorrow's microspikers barring more drifting or significant precip. There was a pretty solid base under it all, just a bunch of soft stuff and drifts on top which by the end of the day will likely be fairly packed down. Always bring the snowshoes of course anyway, just in case.

To the two guys we saw heading up as we were heading down - sorry, there was a misunderstanding. You weren't wrong about the mileage! We completely spaced out about there being two parking lots for this trail - we parked by the Basin and took the herd path, you two must have come up the entire trail proper. So you were right about the mileage for you, and we were right about the mileage for us. Anyway, nice to meet you and hope you had a nice hike.
