There was one snow covered car when we arrived and it was gone when we got back. No other cars but a lot of pole tracks going out and back a short distance from parking area made during our outing.

Snowshoe track to falls well tracked just an inch or two of fluff on top. Marjority of people used the abandoned section of NPT and just went straight along the brook. The snowshoe track across the slide above the brook was nice and flat and was easy going. |

Cold start but warmed up to mid teens and little wind even on the ponds. Snowshoe track along the steep switchback up along the falls was wiped out by wind and snow. Yes it was more consolidated underfoot from previous tracks but it was full tilt sidehill and required some stomping, snowshoe track less consolidated from falls on due to less traffic, many must have turned back here. When we reached Nancy Pond we crossed at outlet and headed for more open woods, found old traces of old snowshoe track. It felt like cheating followed it all the way to the recognized summit--saw that someone had been there the weekend before... On way back we followed it all the way to the other side of the outlet (east side of pond) and walked on the pond instead and this was a no brainer. Danielle is no fan of pond ice but today she walked across all the ponds. After summiting we walked across the ponds all the way to the middle of Norcross Pond. Nice views of Nancy and Anderson. We had a swell time. |
