Comments
Comments: I headed up at 6:50 am and followed Stray Cat, Lower Polecat, Catnap, and Upper Polecat to the top of the lift (2.4 mi). It's advised to wear snowshoes on the ski trails, keep to the looker's left, and be mindful of groomers. The Wildcat Ridge Tr was tracked out after the last storm by a barebooter or two causing some awkward footing in spots. Fortunately there had been alot of drifting and for many sections no tracks were visible. There was really no crust to speak of, either an inch of dense snow, wind scoured snow, or minor drifts. I hung out with a couple Gorbies on A Peak before making my way back. No recent traffic down to 19 MBT but the top 100 yard felt ok under the recent snow. The track was much nicer on the return. Somewhat firm below foot but very soft and deep (2-4 feet) on the sides. I skipped the last .1 mi and 100 foot climb back up to D Peak and bushwacked (maybe 500 yards) across to Polecat. The descent was fast on the ski trails but there were lots of skiers out. I yielded a few times to give them space in the bumps on Catnap.

8.8 mi. 3300' elev+
