| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
We grove another 5-6 miles from the Henry Hill Parking spot on Success Pond Road to the 'Y' Junction near Success Pond. There is a very narrow section on SPR just beyond the logging operation. WE encountered a Logging truck here and were forced to back up for 1/2 mile to an plowed area so he could pass. We parked just beyond the 'Y' at a plowed bump out. Plenty of room here on a very little used part of the road to the camps on the West side of Success Pond. |

| Comments: |
From the parking area we hoffed it up the plowed road to the HOL and a SnoMo trail(as Campsite said it is shown on the topo map as a dotted line). We followed this nearly to the end and were very lucky to find a skidder/logging road that had a single snowmobile track heading up the ridge toward the summit. This took us to within .1 of the Summit so breaking trail was kept to a minimum. Snow was 1/2" crust on an unsupportive base of 20"-24". The recognized high point is surrounded by recent blowdowns of very large firs and again we lucked out by our approach to find it without much searching. Returned in our tracks and once again the views on the out were magnificent of Mahoosuc Mountain and Speck Mountain. Another rewarding day out with Gordo. |
