Comments
Comments: trail morphed as you went up. trail was also different on the way up than it was on the way down.
We had an early ish start at 830 but luckily two guys were breaking it out with snow shoes. We wore snow shoes from start to finish. It was a bit slushing the first mile up Lonesome Lake and on the way back, that same section was starting to ice up. It was nice powder from the lake up to KRT and had a narrow path of snow shoes with a a post hole or two here and there from pair wearing micros. On the way down, this was a wider path and had sections that looked pristine and but it also had sections with ton more post holes. The KRT had more fresh snow than below, covering rocks and helped a bit with footing over the scrambles and in some of the narrow trail sections along the steep drop off. There was enough snow to make this slower going and a bit of work. The way down was WAY faster (obviously) and there were more people who had broken it out and people who had butt sled. Awesome white stuff everywhere up there. Great trail. Great POW POW day. There were about 30 people we saw summiting Cannon and about another 20 that had stopped at the Lake.
