Comments
Comments: These conditions will be obliterated by the incoming storm but as of today the loop trail was packed down well and mostly solid. Spikes were sufficient round-trip. There was some slight drifting in open ledge areas, but not enough to warrant using snowshoes. They would have been more of a hindrance today due to many exposed rocks and roots. The existing snowshoe track deviates from the actual trail in a few places, most notably the first huge ledge descending off Dickey, where it goes straight down the ledge instead of running along the top and then turning left.

I was originally on my way further north when I spotted clear blue skies over these peaks from I-93 and changed my plan. I'm glad I did, as the views were ridiculous in the clear winter air. There were a few other folks out but overall it was very quiet here today.
