Comments
Comments: I had been keeping an eye on the early snow and the freeze/thaw conditions in the past few days in order to decide whether or not to attempt the ledges heading up South Baldface. In the end, I decided to take Slippery Brook Trail and was glad I did. There is already significant ice and there was plenty of sketchy scrambling/downclimbing to be done. It seems like doing the South Baldface ledges at this point would be suicide! I had crampons with me but never ended up putting them on, but still would not risk it.
