Comments: Took East Branch Trail about 3.2 miles to the logging road; it's fairly grown-in with young maples and spruce, but some sections are still open and easy to walk. The surrounding woods are more open overall, but we took the road just to see what we would find, and did a detour only briefly to get around some impassable spruce. At an open landing area where another grown-in road entered from the left, we took a bearing, started the bushwhack and found mostly open woods and birch glades. The final 0.4 mile to the top was steep and a little scrappy at times, but nothing too bad. Great summit with a choice of canister or jar. Someone had signed in just 2 days prior. Our bearing on the descent bee-lined us straight back to the open landing area, picked up the logging road, but abandoned it shortly and 'whacked straight for East Branch Trail south of the logging road, saving some time and mileage. Thanks to Trekboots for a great day.
