Comments
Comments: A beautiful day for a hike to Scar Ridge. I made a little longer hike on ski trails before taking the herd path Brookway,Bear Claw,Sunset Loop,Upper Walking Boos Trail. About a hundred feet below the Quad is the herdpath marked with a couple of signs on the right. I walked approximately .6 miles and took a right at an arrow sign made from logs to begin the bushwhack. There are off and on herdpaths many are quite faint and difficult to follow. Approaching the summit its best to stay left of the blowdowns as there is an incredible amount. Navigation is absolutely needed for this hike. Once back on the slopes(perfect spot for lunch) I followed Upper Boos down to Lower Boos enjoying spectacular views of the Franconia Ridge and beyond. I met only two hikers at the beginning of Brookway on the way out.
