| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
4 in the lot when I arrived at 7:15; the lot was full (20 cars?) when I left at 1:30. I hear there's overflow parking somewhere, ask at one of the buildings. |

|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
All the major streams are bridged, everything else was bone dry today. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Well-blazed with signage the entire way. Two blow-downs, one on Oak Ridge and one on High Ridge near Faraway Mt.; both easy to walk around. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
woof. The ones I saw seemed content. |
|
| Bugs: |
Patches of bugs and mosquitoes but not too bad, nothing on the summits.
As the first one out I destroyed a lot of spider webs. I know they'll get their revenge.

| Comments: |
I did not see anyone else until I was on Roberts, about 4/5 of the way into the loop.
If you plan to do these two as a loop I suggest this counter-clockwise version. This way you get the elevation done early, and the walk from Shaw to Roberts was a breeze! All the trails are primarily woods and carriage roads (with some washouts) from the parking lot all the way to Mt. Roberts. The only "trail" was the Mt. Roberts Trail. There are several open ledges on the Mt. Roberts Trail with some great views!
Great views to the north from Shaw, to the south from Roberts
