Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: No issues.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: CMT: In good shape overall. Water bars look recently dug out and several larger blowdowns look recently cut. A few very minor ones remain. This western half of the trail is only blazed for a very short section where it briefly climbs through a brook bed. The posts in the field at the start have been removed but the way is easy. A new logging road crosses the trail immediately after it enters the woods after the field. WFT: Also unmarked, and could use some indication where it goes at the brook crossing. Two minor blowdowns.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Sure.
Bugs
Bugs: Skeeters where water was present.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Nothing.

Comments
Comments: It's a been a while since I've used this approach. Not too much to report. This side of the mountain follows old logging roads all the way up. Grades are steady with few breaks, so this feels like a pretty significant climb. I started a bit later than I planned due to morning rain, but the day turned out mostly sunny. The trail was damp in the morning but had dried out nicely on the descent. Some mud and slippery moss-covered rocks to be mindful of. The trees continue to grow up around the summit, blocking out more of the distant views, even from the top of the old fire tower steps.

A quiet hike with only four people seen all day; had a nice conversation on the summit with some folks from Keene and chatted with the caretaker of the house at the end of Clifford Brook Rd., who is very friendly with hikers passing through the property. Thank you!
