Figured I would get a little longer hike in, and see if I could cut out the blowdowns Jack had mentioned. It soon became obvious I was following a prolific ax man; I saw one blowdown after another recently chopped out as I headed up 19 Mile Brook Trail. Obviously enjoys hitting it hard; steep angle cuts, and the severed central pieces were clearly lifted up by the butt end and tipped off the trail end over end. Impressive work.
Trail was relatively quiet, I would pass folks periodically with long interludes between. Many folks immediately yanked their hankerchiefs over their faces, clearly brainwashed by the media into thinking Coronavirus was going to infect them any second. Every so often I meet someone who'd give me the relaxed no-panic-here look, and we'd both kind of chuckle as we passed each other. But everyone was polite and friendly, so at least the media didn't succeed in making hiking as miserable as everything else they touch.
Found some very low bush blueberries on Mt Hight. Appearing to florish on the peak by hugging the rocks with strong short limbs. You had to really look to see them, and they were quite tasty.
