Classic day for a classic white mountain hike, one that you should do at least once a year. Was able to finish the loop while taking advantage of the sunshine (which was replaced with clouds when descending the southwest dickey ledge). Just enough of a breeze to keep the bugs away on the ledges, but black flies were coming out when the sun vanished. Trail was definitely busy, but since everyone hikes this in the same direction (counterclockwise) you don't really have to avoid other hikers unless they're moving at a different pace.
I was able to maintain social distancing, though it can be tricky when everyone is struggling up the steep Welch ledges! |
