Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Water, water everywhere... but seldom more than boot-deep, annd all the streams I hit were easily hoppable.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The usual spring mess on the AT and Ranger Trails. The Cummings Trail, once I found it, was in remarkably good shape!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Not a very good idea, unless the dogs have a better idea of where to find the bottom of the trail than I did!
Bugs
Bugs: Plenty, thanks.

Comments
Comments: I started up a recent skid trail from just north of Cummings Pond; on my Delorme GPSr map, that looked like the spot. Once I realized it wasn't, I followed it and a couple moose roads as high as I could (200' +/-), then NE over the ridge, olliking for Clough Brook and the actual trail. Ended up following the brook for quite a ways through thich cover, before stumbing onto the old trail. Up until about 500' from the summit, I thought it was just a continuation of the brook. I wouldn't recommend this approach, and plan to try from the top down next time, to see if I can do a better job of locating the old trail.
